What Our Guests Say...
The Osborne Hotel is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful and atmospheric hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The moment you arrive, you’re greeted with the most breathtaking panoramic view of the sea and cliffs—something truly cinematic, like stepping into a Victorian novel. The setting is serene, elevated, and private. It feels like a quiet sanctuary, a place where time slows down and creativity can flourish.
The building itself is stunning, with a classic Victorian façade and a peaceful, old-world charm that’s incredibly rare to find these days. The hotel grounds are expansive and beautifully maintained, with sweeping lawns, hidden benches, and a dramatic stone gazebo perched above the coastline. I often took short walks around the grounds and down to Meadfoot Beach—just a few minutes away—and it never failed to take my breath away.
The atmosphere of the hotel is both elegant and homely. It manages to be grand without ever feeling cold or impersonal. My room was warm, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, and I especially appreciated being able to adjust the heating myself. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged to make the stay restful and easy.
One of the biggest highlights for me was the staff. Every single person I encountered—from reception to the breakfast team—was kind, friendly, and genuinely warm. They went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. It’s rare to meet hotel staff who are so down-to-earth, personable, and attentive without ever being overbearing. They struck that perfect balance, and it made all the difference.
Breakfast was an absolute joy—fresh, delicious, with a variety of options, and always served with a smile. I especially loved sitting by the window in the dining room each morning, overlooking the garden and starting my day in peace.
The Osborne feels like a hotel out of time. It’s no wonder that during the Victorian era, artists, writers, and philosophers returned here again and again. With its inspiring views, sea air, and calming atmosphere, it’s the kind of place where your mind can wander and your soul can rest. It’s a rare gem that offers history, beauty, and comfort in perfect harmony.
I’m already planning my return trip—this time for 8 nights in a junior suite. That’s how special this place is.
A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful Osborne team—you’ve created something truly special.
Warmest wishes,
Lala

Superb location overlooking the sea about 15 minutes walk to town centre. Comfortable bedroom with views over the front garden and then the sea. Good choice for breakfast. Great value for a 3 night stay at Easter .. and will come back if i can get such good deal again.
Nothing to dislike.
Fabulous Location, beautiful hotel, excellent customer service
Excellent stay. Have to completely disagree with negative reviews. Very friendly staff with a huge gym and nice pool.
Very nice breakfast too and stunning views of the bay. Will definitely stay again and have already booked for next month.
We pulled up to this hotel and was very impressed with the outside and views.
As we went inside we were greeted by lovely friendly staff. The room was perfect for us, tea, coffee ,water was all provided in the room.
We had our evening meal in the restaurant which was absolutely delicious. Can not fault it at all. The staff are amazing in this hotel. Very friendly.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Room 129 Haldan suite.(One night).
Wow, what a beautiful room, with a sea view, well furnished room with a big comfortable bed, pillows on the soft side, I prefer harder ones.
Branded tea and coffee supplied.
The ensuite was massive, the bath had a window so you could look out to sea.
Large shower.
The only thing missing was a small fridge really,to keep the water chilled and we like to get our own milk.
And Aircon, but a large fan was supplied, which was nice.
Breakfast - continental and full English available, which was ok, though the juice seemed watered down.
The hotel and grounds was lovely.
Would use again
This was our third trip to Torquay this year and we decided on a change from The Imperial & The Grand our usual 'grab a night away' haunts. We were not disappointed, our room had been decorated over winter so was clean and specious, if a little sparse, with a lovely sea-view. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the public areas clean and comfortable. The indoor pool was running cold as they had just opened and we had no hot water in the morning but this was soon remedied and we are happy to put down to opening glitches as it was the first day of the current season for them. The food was good and the breakfast very pleasant with good service throughout. The real winner is the location, a little out of town but right on the sea front overlooking Meadfoot Beach, lovely. the gardens are well presented and there is an outdoor pool and tennis court. Well worth a visit.
Breakfast was excellent and dinner menu good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
